    Airport history

    Serving the region since 1945.

The FAA currently lists December 1945 as the airport's activation date. The fuller story—land acquisition, construction, dedication, early operators, flight schools, runway improvements, and the people who built the airport—is being researched from airport records, newspapers, board minutes, aerial photographs, and sectional charts.

This page will grow as dates, names, captions, sources, and publication permissions are verified.
